Specimens
Laboratory and Hospital moves typically include the relocation of condition and/or time sensitive materials. Loss or damage of these materials is untenable, requiring meticulous planning with the key stakeholders. We have relocated hundreds of -20 and -80 degree freezers and their contents as part of Hospital and Laboratory moves.
Patients
Whilst B&W are not responsible for patient safety as part of an Hospital move, in consultation with many stakeholders, B&W develop the overall sequence and timing for Hospital relocations.
The movement of key equipment and supplies (clinical and non clinical) and the positioning of hospital resources is centred around patient moves. We have lead the logistical planning for moving Hospitals across not only sites, but across cities, including an ICU and NICU.
Specialised Equipment
Specialised equipment moves can necessitate scheduling resources from overseas and, in many cases, multiple contractors are scheduled to ensure the move is effected with minimal disruption.

Collection Items
The National Library of New Zealand and the Museum of Canterbury are two unique relocation projects which B&W are proud to have planned and executed.
The variety of items held within the collections is astounding. As a result, B&W have worked in consultation with Curators, Conservators, Technicians, and the relocation company to develop detailed and unique plans to safety prepare (pack) and relocate collections.

Storage/Shelving Systems
Many B&W projects have required not only large collections to be relocated but the shelving system upon which they are shelved.

IT
Large relocations (hospital, corporate, government) can require the relocation of literally thousands of individual items.
These items have included: desktop hardware, servers, printers (MFDs, plan and label printers), specialised radiology reporting stations, bank trading room consoles and more.
Each device is mapped from its current to its new location and its physical move is sequenced with disconnection, reconnection and testing to ensure that it is available for use as and when required. The physical move is likely to be linked to staff and or patient moves and sometimes the relocation of the furniture upon which it sits.
Over-Size
Bringing together the right people to develop plans for over-size items and managing the execution of those plans is a core skill of B&W. An over-size item could be something as relatively simple as a fridge which needs the cooling unit removed from the top to reduce the overall height to a precious and fragile Waka in a basement, crocodile or a laser table (which had to be craned in via a window).
Dangerous Goods
Laboratory moves typically require the relocation of dangerous goods requiring co-ordination with suitably qualified third parties on the behalf of our clients.
Furniture, Fittings and Equipment
Whether a relocation is large or small, simple or complex, every piece of furniture, fitting or equipment to be relocated is mapped from its current location to new. Factors to be considered in the detailed planning phase include whether the item requires any services (power, water, gas, security), transport limitations (eg disassembly, packing, reassembly), and requirements for use at existing and new locations (eg when can it be relocated).
This detail, captured an item level, is collated into a concise Run Sheet scheduling all relocation activity for multiple days/weeks for multiple groups.
The complexity of the run sheet mirrors the complexity of the relocation and the critical nature of the items being relocated.
